Which version do you have?

P2.2 is the latest. Find it here.

this flasher fails with the drive Philips PBDV1640P, note that the identifier is slightly different.
I have the same drive as Marte and I want to update it... help needed.

According to your other post, where just replied, neither your existing firmware or the drive's name are the same with this drive, isn't it?

no, just read the first post again, Marte asks for the same drive as me, not Philips DVDR1640P

It's very easy to modify the flasher to allow flashing my drive, but I prefer not to do that because I don't know if this flash will crash my drive.

Hmmm. Yes, I agree with you don't modify it, I also don't know the consequences for your drive.

Maybe minos can ask Philips for this.

I asked this to to the philips support center and they told me that I can use that firmware/flasher to update my drive, but I don't know if it's really true.My firmware is B2.0 and that is P2.2,so the name is really different;the flasher doesn't work properly with my dvd writer, maybe it needs to be modified;and there are some differences between the PBDV1640P and the DVDR1640P,for example in the front of my PBDV1640P there aren't the two leds, one for cd and one for dvd and there isn't the big led in the middle, there is only one little led on the right part of the front that has the same function of the big wide led of the DVDR1640P(i.e. it becomes green when you insert something and it becomes red when you write a cd or a dvd)

Better wait for minos to tell you.

As for the leds you said, yes, this is the optical difference beetween the retail and bulk models.

I also am curious about the different firmware revisions.

thanks a lot minos. I will wait impatiently for the answer about the flasher/firmware.
Marte: modifying the flasher to work its very easy, but i prefer to wait till minos gets a better response about the firmware. If you want the modified flasher, let me know. But try it under your own responsibility :-P
Iggy: if i knew how, i would extract the firmware of my burner for you :-P

Chesko what did you do to the flasher?Did you crack the Dvd-Writer Type Control of the flasher(something like a "JE" substituted with a "JNE") or something else?I didn't analyze the exe,so I don't know so much about it.
