in the case of the 32123S -> 40125S I would say you are truly over clocking the drive, as in, you are pushing it beyond what it should be capable of. This is not the same as when you convert a 40125S to a 48125W, or a 48246S to a 52246S, since they all share the same hardware, the firmware is simply restricting the drive's abilties.

personally, I wouldn't recommend it.

hey dolph is that the same with oem?
like its just a fireware restricted but the quality of the drive is the same?
and i know i asked in the liteon forum but if you don't see that one can this be done with a firewire drive or will i get connectivity problems since maybe the iomega firmware includes firewire instructions or somethihng

I'm not shure how to overclock my liteon 48246S. What is liteon Windows flasher to drop into flashfix? What I must to do after using flashfix? Do I have to run exe of 52246S drive? Please for detailed instruction, I do not want to demage my drive.

Sorry, I'm not sure how firewire will affect the flashing process. I would think it would be ok though.

No, there is no overclockability for the LiteON 24x CD-RW burners
