Hi i have a question on the type of harddrive to use on the ps2. plz bare in mind that i know almost nothing about the type of harddrive. anyway... i heard my friend say that i need an IDE harddrive, i've been looking around auctions online and all the 120GB harddrive are SATA... can someone tell me whats the difference between these two if theres any?

Wow... I found that the cracked HD loader work fine. (they say only for the modded PS2)

Hi everyone. I just got HDL thanks largely in part to reading this forum and it works PERFECTLY!

I had a spare 40 gig IBM deskstar lying around and I just threw that into my PS2 and it works! I notice a huge decrease in load times for the games I have on there already. Can't wait to dump the rest of my collection onto the hard drive. And I will be getting a larger drive a couple weeks down the road.

AND thus far I have been able to get DDR Max JPN, Beatmania IIDX 5th and Beatmania IIDX 7th style working flawlessly using HDLdump. I DID have a problem loading Amplitude though. I'll try dumping it on there using HDLDump later.

Also, I was able to dump DDR MAX (USA) onto the drive but when I tried to run it, it didn't seeem to load. It just stayed on the black screen.

I'm having so much fun with this! It's breathing new life into a PS2 I was literally about to junk! Thanks guys!!! :)

*Couldn't help myself. Trying to answer this one*

SATA and IDE are 2 different types of interfaces. The PS2 only accepts a hard drive with an IDE interface. So don't get an SATA drive unless you're planning on getting an SATA card for your computer. It will NOT work on your PS2.

SATA drives are NOT supported, just use ATA100/133

I have just got Tiger woods 2005 which I want to put on my hd, hd loader didnt work and I tried hd dumb which installed it like hd loader but I get a blank screen when I try to run it , any ideas ???
is there some games that will never work even if you install them via your pc, like tiger woods 2005 ??

have u tried enabling Mode 3? highlight your tiger woods game, press select, highlight mode 3, hit x to enable it, hit select and play the game.

ehm... I seems to be figuring out how to install the game using HDL_DUMP eventhough I haven't try it (trying to minimize my spending u know? :p). The question I've been wondering is can I connect the hard drive without any sony broadband adapter? is there any special cables that can acctually connect the hd directly? or can I use a HD enclosure to connect via the PS's USB? thanks very much in advance

I am still a beginner with all this, I have downloaded GT4 Proluge pal version and Dance Dance fever pal version, then I use the hdl dumb thing to convert it to my hard drive. When I tried to play it with the correct Mode, it gives me a blinky screen, but I can actually see the games running but the screen is kind of blinking. I tried almost every mode, but it is still the same. Is it becasuse it is a Pal version, Do I need to convert it to NTSC with some software, or do I need a pal TV to play it? I know this might sounds stupid, but please help me

where do you live? if you got a pal version of game and ps2 you definitely have to play it on a pal tv because pal tv have 60Hz refresh rate and ntsc tv only got 50hz, so it's definitely the problem (carfull I heard if you keep doing that you can brake your tv)

I think the problem with the downloaded version is that its PAL, while your TV is NTSC..

As for the other question about HDD, you need the PS2 enternet card, else you cannot connect it
