I just purchased an I/O Magic 8x DVD =/- RW. The Burner shows as a "Generic" in Nero Tools.
I am trying to upgrade the firmware, but....you see my problem, I have no idea who made this burner.
Any sugestions?
The upgrade in thr I/O page will not work.
I have firmware 1401 and the new firmware, 1501 will not upgrade, it has an error that says not for this burner???
If anyone has any insight into this I would appreciate the help
Thanks

Generic version of the Optorite DD0401 or maybe a DD0405, equivalent to an Accesstek DD0401 or DD0405 since Accesstek is the generic branch of Optorite.

Look for DD0401 or DD0405 on the drive's label or on the box to see which one it is, otherwise I'm pretty sure that it's the DD0401. The key is to use an I series firmware for the Generic drives that have a firmware ending with 'I'

Firmwares: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_result.php?kaj=1&isces=accesstek+DD040

I'm glad this worked out. However, for fututre reference, I/OMagic uses both Optorite, and more recently BTC drives in their boxes. Always be 100% sure before you flash the drive, or you will spend hours fixing it (best case), or be buying a new drive (worst case).

My best guess is that it is a BTC.
