Hey Guys, I need some DVD Burning guru's help.

I've already successfully decrypted, shrunk, and burned a few DVD's but now I'm having trouble with "50 First Dates" DVD. I believe it is software related b/c I tried to rip with my regular DVD Drive (Lite-On CD-RW/DVD Combo) and with my DVD Burner (NEC 2500A) and both failed. Which reminds me, where can I get the latest rip unlock for my NEC, or was the 2k5107v2b5dl.rar file supposed to do that? I already flashed it with that firmware.

Getting on to my problem. First I tried DVD Decryptor with my regular DVD-ROM drive. About 60% through the process it comes up with this error message on file VTS_09_3.VOB.

I did not try using DVD Decryptor with my DVD Burner b/c I had already tried about 4 different times and figured it wasn't hardware, but software.

I did however use DVD Shrink with both Drives, both times it stopped at about the same spot, 60%, and gave the following error:

Have you tried re-ripping it. Maybe you just got unlucky your first time. Also, is there any scratches on the orignal?

you got some cheap disc there... The problem that you describe seems to be a media problem...

No matter what program or drive I use it always stops and gives an error at approximately 60%. I was thinking maybe it is software but it just could be the original disc is bad. It did look kind of scuffed, but I didn't think it would be that bad. I guess I'll give up on that one, I just didn't want to feel like a failure.

Give Kogos' suggestion a try. I could be as simple as a media problem.

I'm at work right now, but I found a few more programs I'm going to give a shot, and if they stop at 60% I think the original is no good.

I was just curious if anyone else has successfully copied it. That would help figure out what the problem is.

If you see at the disc, its clean or has scratches? Try to rip the disc with a Pioneer based recorder

It's your disc, as I have made a backup copy of this disc without any problems!

ya, ive too made a backup copy of this movie already.

Using DVD X COPY with Aopen 8x writer, and TY media. had no problems

Thanks guys. I watched the movie and it has glitches and skips at a certain point which turns out to be about 60% of the way through. It's definitely scratched so I'm not going to worry about it. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a user error.

Definately I agree with Minos! Also, if you have to, you can use a program called "Bad Copy Pro" most of the time, it will read the disc, and you will be okay, but you will need to set it at dinner time, and at breakfast it may be done!
