Sorry if this is bit of a newbish question -
I read a lot about flashing dvd-writer drives and installing firmware, but I never see any hints on what software people use or how they manage to do this. If there is a thread on this forum about how to do so, I definitely did not see it after searching -_-. If anybody could offer a link or some information/steps in order to flash a drive and install firmware, it would be greatly appreciated.

Erm, you left out a VERY important piece of imformation: what kind of drive to you have?

Argh! >.< I didn't realize. I have a (the ever so popular) NEC ND-2500A. I did a little research (read: looking at this forum and others) and figured that the 2500A was probably the best buy for me. Lucky thing I don't know how to flash it or anything ^_~

Aloha Taejin-
Thank you for starting this thread. I am also new with a NEC-2500a. I hope someone can assist us with the correct procedure on how to flash the drive and install the firmware updates.

Taejin, do you need to update your drive's firmware by official or un-official firmware? For both cases, there are Windows flashers, making firmware flashing an easy task

After reading reviews from newegg and browsing around on other sites, I figured flashing my new drive with v1.07 was the best way. So I'd like to flash my drive with un-official firmware. Does the firmware program(s) posted by Herrie and co automatically do this?
