Hi

Is it possible to overclock the Aopen crw4048 to that of the crw4850, using the crw4850's firmware?

Both drives have a 12X rewrite, does that mean they run the same hardware, would the firmware be compatible?

Has anyone done the deed? IF so, were the results gewd or bad? If not with an Aopen brand, with another brand that uses similar hardware to that the Aopen CRW4048?

And can I re-install the older firmware if it doesn't work, or would I be stuck with a pretty large azz paperweight?

I'm a newbie to this CD-RW ovaclocking vibe, help is all I require,

Thanks in advance

Have you managed to OC the CRW4048 yet?

I am uncertain of the risks to an OC like this, if things don't work, is there a means of reverting to the CD-RW's original firmware?

Or is it basically stuffed? [xx(]

Thanks for your reply.

btw. Your CDRINFO website rox! Your CD-RW testing methodologies are more empirical and concise than other "renowned" PC hardware testers, where they usually just mention the speed and quality burnt, when we guys really want to know WHAT it can read and burn as well. Those gawd damn Sow-nee Disks! - Your database of the CD-RW Hardware you have tested is damn gewd! Keep it up!

OK, I know this is a bit late but I haven't been on this board in months and have lost my original signon anyway....

Anyway, the 40x Aopen is NOT OCable to 48x. Reason being that it's the same architecture as the Aopen 32x; the 48x and 52x I believe are the same drive.

HOWEVER, if Artec ever get off their behinds and update the firmware for their 48x burner, we could be in business. The Artec 32x, 40x and 48x are the same internally, and the Aopen 32x/40x is firmware-compatible with the Artec 32x/40x (they are different drives though, totally different trays for example, but are based on the same Ricoh reference design). So it is possible that the Aopen 32x/40x could be overclocked to the Artec 48x. Problem is getting a firmware .bin for the Artec -- I don't think it's possible to read out the firmware with standard tools unless you have an upgrade file to hand :(

Greetings!

I've got problems flashing my A-Open CRW4048 1.01 by using the Aopen flash-utility!
It doesn't show my "target drive" so I can't adress it!

Thanks for your replys!

CU,

Dirty_Harry
