I think out of all the tests done, that is the one I have the least interest in.

Intersing to see how most DVD writers don't support Mt. Rainier ... the last great hope for more reliable packet writing.

An error test on some CD-RW media, may be more illuminating than the speed of packet writing.

If you want packet writing, use DVD-RAM. It's the only format that does it properly, and it's very stable and high quality. CD-Rs and DVDRs weren't made for packet writing, it was an extra "feature" tacked on afterwards, that nobody has ever gotten to work correctly.

I find that CDR's are better at packet writing with DirectCD, Win XP, Nero's InCD, NTI's FileCD, and B's Clip.

A CD-R disk can hold approximately 700 megabytes of data. However, I recommend you don't fill it with more than 650 megabytes, because it needs some space to close the disk and this is where I believe most people have a problem with "Packet writing" since the software doesn't inform a user when its time to close the CDR disc! So, close the disk when it gets to roughly 650 megabytes full.

You can close the disk at anytime, however. It does not have to be full to be closed.

It's alright suggesting to Purchase a DVD Ram Drive as long as you only want them for Ram Writing as most of the DVD Writers that have Ram writing are hopeless at Writing DVD's such as the LG 4000 Series they have really poor compatibility with both -R & +R so I can't see the point !!!

I don't know, the LG 4082B has been looking pretty good in recent C't reports on burners. Personally, I'm pretty hyped about the LG 4120B dual layer burner. And I think the most common drive in a house hold is still the LG 4040B (at least in the province I live in). LG has taken a pretty big hold in the DVD burner market over where I am, but we have a pretty big ocean between us, so I wouldn't be surprised if things were quite different in Europe.

DVD-RAM supposed to be the superior DVD re-writing format, 100.000 times abilities, however due to high in-compatibility with DVD players, not many users using it. For now only LG drives supporting DVD-RAM which makes the market share, smaller than should be.

Although I voted no, I believe these tests might be important for other users.
And certainly our tests should always be technically correct and feature complete. Always.
