Yes I got it all under control now thanks, I figured it out after playing around with it for a while and upgradeing to 32x media actully it was kinda simple after working thru it a few times

I'd really like to burn the rest of my 16X media at 24X (or whatever I can) since I did it on my 24x burner w/o any problems....

Last question --- I have an Athalon1400 w/ 1G RAM and a RAID0 (3ea 10k rpm 18G SCSI UltraWide drives) that I burn from --- if I actually spend a little extra and get 48X media, am I likely to be able to burn at 48X? Or only likely w/ a Plextor drive or some big bux good drive?

First off this only works for Lite-On/Yamaha (late models) based drives (I think!??).

If yours is one of 'em, in choose recorder there will be an "Options" button, then you take the the tick out of SMART-BURN, OWSC.

It's still avaliable in Nero 5.5.9.0

Digital research don't make there own drives, so its possible that it is a rebaged Lite-On or Benq (Acer) or other...

Yes bottom line, invest in some better high speed certified CD-R/RW's. Then it will write faster. Make sure DMA is enabled in device manager.

A Plextor drive would write that media at 16X too, probably. They are pretty picky.

Come to think of it, Nero saves Ur last settings I think. So if U previously had a X24 in the X32 burner it will retain the X24 setting until U manually change it.
