Can your drive do overburn? Not all drives support this. What drive you got?

Visit www.cdrtimes.net too. Another great place....

For an ISO CD (and maybe similar for others)

Select NO MULTISESSION, then select FINALIZE and Disk-At-Once on the burn tab

Wizard mode won't let you do these tricks!
You can set that at the start, or on the burn dialog, in ether case, you must leave the Wizard mode to do it.

Make sure you have the latest version of Nero 5.5.82, make sure you have the latest firmware for your model recorder. And make sure you are writing in Disc-At-Once mode with the overburn feature in Nero enabled.

Use Nero's Recorder>Medium Info to see what the recorder see's the media as, 80min or 90min. Some drives will see some 90min media as 80min media. Only a firmware upgrade will resolve this, or another brand of 90min media that the drive will work with.

Regards,

Craig

Just a question regarding this, if anybody knows ... does the Artec WRA-WA48 support overburning? (I have a 704mb DivX that I'd like to squeeze onto an 80 minute disk with Nero.)

Hi Batchman
Yes your Artec WRA-WA48 does support overburning so you should have no problem getting 704 on a 80 min CD with Nero !
I hope this helps !

If you can't overburn, you might be able to make it work with MODE 2 using this strange program
http://webs.ono.com/usr016/de_xt/mcf.html

I don't fully understand it, but since a Divx is media content - and might be accessed using DirectShow, there might be a chance.
Try it on an 80min RW first, and add a copy of the required filter in the section for ordinary files so it can be installed where needed.

OK, now I'm getting peeved!

I'm using 80 minute disks, burning a single file, have set the preferences/expert settings for overburn, have set the properties for disk at once, and -still- the thing keeps telling me I don't have room.

I guess I'm not getting this file on disk until I find a program that will let me trim a minute or so off the DivX so it is small enough to fit! WHY won't this stupid thing work?????

Oh well, again, thanks for the advice.

Hi Batchman
Open Nero and go to File/Preferences
And change Red Marker to 82.00 minutes
Then click on Expert Features on the top Menu
Then change the Maximum CD length to 82 minutes
And make sure Enable Overburn is ticked
Click on Apply then OK
Try this and hopefully it will cure your problems
I hope this helps !

I failed to get an overburn, until I selected Burn from the compilation properties dialog instead of the button at the top.

I thought I'd done everything! - set the limit and enabled it, disabled multisession, selected DAO and finalize (I thought DAO was ALWAYS finalized? )

If you let the Wizard anywhere near, that also helps to wreck your chances of using overburn.

Hi there Matthew,if you use that program that writtes in mode 2 you aren't overburning !!
i don't recomend using it unless the files you want to burn have some time of error correction, because a cd burned in mode 2 woun't have EDC/ECC just CIRC so a little scratch will make it unreadable

I was referring to Nero Overburn before....

I wonder if DivX is "fault tolerant" - not to perfect recovery, but to just glitching a little - though that would be no help if the CD access halted with an error.

So long as that can be got round, mode 2 is ideal for loss-tolerant encodings as used for some streamable media, where packet loss must be tolerated with minimal disruption.
