Is it legal? and any free and really works software to do this? i have try some but most of them work with a watermark and i really dont waste my time. By the way my dvd is protected and HD type.

It is legal in most countries to back up your own Disks. I'd use AnyDVD+ CloneDVD.

To be honest, I think it's OK for personal use only. e.g. what if your kids make a mess of your DVD?
