Hi,
I bought a new PC and the DH20A4P in it, it's very noisy.
I use the latest firmware  and the device burns perfectly.
The noise though is killing me, compared to the Liteon 1653S I had in the older PC.
Is this normal? The PC is 1 month old... I burned 3 times in total.
I would like to know what I can do to reduce the noise, or to hear whether there is a chance the burner is "broken".
I was using a DVD+RW from Verbatim 4X to burn and afterwards to read the burned content (2000 or more photos) but the noise is mostly reading the same DVD+RW to read the content.

I would return it, sounds like a defective drive.

You did, however post on CDFreaks that you flashed the drive and now it is quiet.  Did it suddenly get noisy again?

Well, it was a bit better, but after some more tries, the noise is still there and especially at the lower speed..

I am in doubt whether this is normal considering the speed.. but the "shop" told me they could trade it back for a new.

They can replace it with a Pioneer.. will it be better, I do not read good things about Pioneer burners.

Yes, I'd go ahead and try the Pioneer, besides, it's a better drive.

Hi..
the model they offered me is this:

http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/45/104/442/DVR-115DBK/index.html

Can I make this region free and eventually use another firmware to "make it better"?

If yes, kan you link me? Has "codeking" good stuff for the Pioneer too?

Regards
