Hi,
I pc is a notebook Compaq R4000series (R4012US, precisely) and it comes with Nec ND-6500A firmware .2.81.
It was ok , but some weeks ago it start beeng choppy and terrible slow.
I measured speed with Nero CDSpeed and it show 0.8x to read DVD and 8x to read CD-ROM. Both using 100% of CPU.
It is also using PIO, and I try my best to set DMA but all tries failed miserably.

Any thoughts or should I throw it in the trash can ?
