Hi
Yes you can. It's known as crossflashing. All you need is Quikee's BQFlasher. An aspi .dll copied to the same folder. Plus the f/w. (This may viod your warranty).
BQFlasher:http://quikee.cdfreaks.com/BQFlasher.rar
Nero aspi .dll:ftp://ftp6.nero.com/wnaspi32.dll
BenQ f/w:http://support.benq.com/front/BenqMain.asp?MenuHead=128&ShowType=program&FileURL=service/driverlist.asp&Dataid=18367&downloadclass=Driver&product=3731&langu=null&ops=null&GenMenu=&RootId=undefined

For info on Quikee's BQFasher go:http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=149980

Thank you for informations.
What is the difference between firmware update G (retail) an B (bulk) version ? Is there difference in retail and bulk version od the drive ?

You say: "This may viod your warranty". What that means that I can not go back to B from G  (so in cae of troubles I just flash with G version and bring the drive to a service) ?

thx again

bye

Hi
The "bulk"(would usually refer to oem, but not in this case) series f/w is intended for third parties using the 1640 as generic (preinstalled in systems) Hi-Val is the only one that I know of that uses this f/w. Upon flashing the warranty is void (this applies to all f/w flashing, as there is a element of the flash not working properly), this is assuming that dealer/manufacturer can tell this has taken place. So yes you can flash back, should you want to at some point.
Personally I've flashed hundreds of drives & so far never had a problem.
