I am 9 wires away from getting my new DSM3 mod chip into my v9 PS2. The nine I have left are the ones that go into the VIA (small holes on the board). I don't think I am using a very good flux, and the solder was recommended at the electonic components store, I have a 15 watt iron. Has anyone done this? Exactly what solder and flux did you use? I can't get the solder to stick to the points for the life of me. with all the other wires soldered to the board, not to the chip the PS2 works like new, so, so far so good. Need some help from someone who has done it.

i never rely on the flux to make the soldering easier.. I use the old principal.. if one side wont stick, flip the board over and use the same point on the back. I never touched a v9. but i did do 10 v6 and v7 ps2s with magic3.1's before.. If I remember correctly, dsm and magic are pretty much the same solder points. Doing the backside of the board was never a problem with remounting unless if you do something dumb, and you dont map out the wires flat and tape them down neatly before you solder.

There is no way to solder the back, there is a big chip there. Plus aren't these boards multiple layers?
Any tricks out there?
