just want to start a thread on when this type of media will be available. i have some verbatim CD-r LS media but really want the DVD LS media since im burning more video material than i am audio only material.

if anyone have any more info on when this will be released, pease share. i know the Emperor has stated 2 months, so if there are any new updates please share. thank you....

I think that Verbatim should have some DVD LS media, if something comes up we will post it here

I'm not sure about dual layer but single layer will be available before the end of April (from our store in Canada anyways). Memorex plans to distribute the first week of May across Canada and probably earlier in the US. HP branded is now available overseas. These are only available in dvd+r 8x unfortunately to the best of my knowledge. You will see them soon !!

ok, did 3 successful burns last night using DVDS and DVDD onto my shiny new LS DVD+R media. everything was great. when i went to add an image i was told bascially (paraphrasing) that the media was not supported but that it could do a generic LS burn. i went ahead with the generic burn and the image looks great.. its just a little lighter.. kinda like using "fast draft" on your printer when printing.. i have the latest update HP has released publicly. my only guess is that they need to (or are hopefully working on) add a software patch.. this media is new so they will have to catch up...

dont get me wrong, the images look great! they are just lighter....

all in all im very happy.. no more using ink and printer paper and pasting labels!!!

i must add that the cdr LS media works fine!

an update to this for those who care...

HP has now released an update to the lightscribe engine that will now allow the disc image to be burned in best quality instead of generic quality. now there are zero issues with this drive and the lightscribe process.

apologies if i am saying the wrong terminology.. its a "patch" as far as im concerned... the drive already had a firmware update back in march... this was for the L:S program "Sure Thing"...

Okay I am also having the issue with the light images on the DVD's.  I downloaded and installed the updated print engine on HP's website but still have the light image....but the CD-R's burn nice and dark what am i missing?

yes the CD+r images are indeed darker then the DVD+r's. i have that issue as well. i dont  burn much cdr LS media. i burn more dvds. the update did fix the error but the images are still lighter. i can accept that for the time being.. i expect a major update  may be coming to us in the future to remedy this...
