Well, other then the problem with duplicate file names, Nero 6 is really quite good! You just have to watch your step around large amounts of files. System backups would be particularily hazerdous I would think... [}:)]

Dolphinius... I just tried to duplicate your problem, and cannot.

I made a test CDR with 10 folders, each of the 10 folders had different names, however, the files in each of the 10 folders had the exact names, and ALL of them burned without problems, I checked the disc, and in each of the 10 folders, are the same files.

hrm... so what is different between your settings and mine?

do you have "check joliet file names before burning" enabled in the general preferences?

I have it set for no mutlisession, ISO level 2, mode 2/XA, Character set is ISSO 9660, joliet is checked.

"Allow path depth of more then 8 directories" is enabled,
"Allow more then 255 characters in path" is enabled
"Do not add the ';1' ISO file version extension" is disabled

"Allow more then 64 characters for Joliet names" is enabled

The write method is disc-at-once/96

Dolphinius, not sure my man, but my settings are identical to yours, and I tried over and over to recreate your problem, but I can't. Now before I installed this version of Nero, I did a COMPLETE clean of the registery for EVERYTHING releated to Nero, and Ahead, including all DLL's also.

Ok, that is something I did not do. I just let it upgrade my previous version of 5.5. I am considering a complete re-formatting of my HDD again, perhaps things will be resolved with that? It isn't a big issue to me, since I know how to avoid it, but I am really wondering what why it happens to me and not to you. I wonder if this is similar to the overburning bug in 5.5 that would let osme people overburn and other not even if all the settings were identical? like I said though, it's not a big deal since I understand it now, before I was racking my brains trying to figure out qwhat the heck was messing up my files!

it is really unfortunate that Nero has no competition (roxio isn't competition).

why do you guys use mode2/XA and not mode 1?

Yeah, I did! My good friend Laffin suggested the complete clean install, which I did, and have had NO probs with Nero 6, and as of now I've burned a combo of 114 data / music cd's! Go Nero!

Rabbit, I use Mode 2 because it supports 31 character filenames, while Mode 1 supports only 11. Mode 1 is just basically for DOS / windows 3.1 compatability, and I never plan to go back to the dinosaur age.

The character thing is ISO9660 Level 1 or Level 2, not Mode 1 or Mode 2/XA.

I have noticed a real annoying problem with Cover Creator, only when making music covers. It doesn't let you have spaces between words after the first word eg: You haveaspaceaftertrackonebutnomore.

I use Cover Creator a lot so now am considering going back to 5.5.10.42. Haven't seen any difference between the two in burning quality either. Seems like Nero 6.0.0.9 is just bloatware
