Sometimes when I have burned a dvd my nec nd-3520a changes from a dvd-drive to a cd-drive. And then I have to restart my comp. if I want to use a dvd. PLEASE HELP!!!

Try ejecting the disc from the right click menu in explorer rather than the eject button, you may need to do this several times to refresh the info.

I use nero for my DVD burning...here's what I found. The key for me is that the IMAPI CD burning service must be started, then I can burn DVD's every time. When I insert a blank DVD, the drive still changes to a CD drive, but burning works fine. When the IMAPI service is NOT on, the DVD drive doesn't recognize that there's a blank in there. Hope this helps.
