folks, I would like to clear up reasons behind the 255 changes in NEC bitset window of my dvdinfopro program. This is not something I have done, but NEC have done. I simply display the internal counter so users are aware. When the bitset command is issued to the drive, the drive itself first decrements the counter if its above zero, and then will only perform the command while its still above zero. Why they chose to do this is unknown, unless it has a limited life cycle similar to other drives such as the Nu. The NEC bitset tool did not display this info, and users could be caught unaware. This is the reason I chose to display this information. We will look into ways of bypassing or reseting this counter if the need arises. This function is a set and forget anyway so there should be little need to change it.
