Unfortunately, don't know what they were thinking but they made them incompatible for all my CD players (including the CD deck, the car stereo, DVD player, etc.) and all I want to do is be able to put the on my MD so I thought I can try to rip it....

nope.

I've tried CloneCD, Nero, isobuster, DDump, Easy CD-DA, Exact Audio, etc. They all can't do it. And I've tried 4 different drives:
Yamaha CRW2100E and CRW2100N, Pioneer DVD303S, and a Toshiba CD-ROM drive.

Any suggestions?

Try EAC 0.9beta2..It should be able to rip the CD

Already tried them as I stated in my previous post.
It says that it's unable to match the read command, though
it works fine on other CDs.

If EAC has the drive read command as "autodetect read command", then put a NORMAL CD in and hit "Autodetect read command now".

Once set, it may deal better with the unusual ones!

Most drives seem to end up with MMC1 as the read command.

Matthew: already did with another CD and I get that error.

And other programs hang.
Easy CD-DA extractor fails (it doesn't hang).
Isobuster hangs
CDRWin doesn't like the multisession so it fails
Nero fails
CloneCD says the drive isn't supported even though it works fine with everything else.

same here, i can not burn more fast and the furious in my setup at all :(

i've tried everything nothing works so far i've tried all the programs that i've seen listed here and clone cd made an exact copy of it "rolls eyes" but it still has its copy protection so no good there

If the Cd is using the CDS protection, only a few CDRs can read it. Some of the Plextors and some of the NECs. The Liteys cannot rip a Cactus protected disk.

Liteon can't do Cactus!

For the reading of audio cd's with copy protection i suggest you try www.Feurio.de I know GameCopyFreak (of cdfreaks) once wrote a tutorial about copying audio cd's but i can only find the dutch version and i don't think you will understand ;)

this is a long shot but have you tried the alternate CDFS.VXD ? for some protections (i can't remember wich one(s)) it work fine that the protection was gone

Hey,

I have managed to rip all the files off of the J to tha L-O remix album. I am pretty sure that it was protected with Key2audio. I am running XP Professional and this is how I did it.

I put the CD in and it takes a bit longer to detect. When it does start up Windows Media PLayer pops up but nothing happens. When i explore the cd contents and try to play the cda tracks individually I get some error message. So I left the CD in (the cd must be left in all the time) and I did a sysytem restore to an earlier date. Once that that was sone I then undid the restore so my computer went back to its original settings. Once that was done I opened "My Computer" and double-clicked the drive with the audio CD in it. And guess what, the cd played like normal and I was able to rip the songs using the facility in media player. But once the CD was re-inserted it went back to normal and nothing happened. I tried it before with clonecd etc to no success. I have tried the alternative method on several occasions and it has worked everytime. How the hell it works I don't know but I don't care. It works!

Try with any plextor cd-rw, you can try with the plex-124ts or plex-1210s, it`s best units.
