I have a Dell Dimension 4700 with a NEC ND-3530A DVD/CD RW drive. I am trying to burn audio CD's using a combination of Sony's SoundForge 8.0 and CD Architect 5.2. The actual CD burn by CD Architect keeps failing withe following error message:

This happens after the CD lead-in has been burned but after only 2% of the CD contents have been written. I have tried writing at both max speed (48x) and 24x - they both fail the same way. I have used 2 types of media (Memorex Music CD-R as well as Sony Music CD-R) with the same results. On the other hand, other programs such as RecordNow seem to have no problem burning CD's and DVD's using this drive. I would appreciate any help you can give me in solving this problem.

I would suggest the most recent firmware for your burner and Nero.

The error message indicates not a software failure, but incompatible/bad media and/or drive compatibility. Try different, NEC recommended media from quality manufacturers such as Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim/MCC/MKM, Maxell, Ricoh etc...

It's strange.   The same thing has just started happening to me.   I get this message:

The weird part is I've never had a problem with it before.   I've been using it
for the past year successfully.   My CD burner still works with other software
like Nero and general burning.   Just not with CD architect.

I will try updating my firmware.   I'm hoping this is the solution.
