Anyone ever used Lame MP3 encoder? I read about it on allofmp3 site... I am having trouble downloading it with IE7... when it tries to open it all my windows start flashing and I have to force shut down. In the past I had to download some special add on to get another dvd decoder.  could this be a similar problem?

Hi Dalibella, where are you trying to download LAME from?  You can probably Google lame 3.97 and get the pre-compiled Windows files in a handy ZIP.  Here is a link to Softpedia's offering.  It usually contains a dll and and exe... you can drive the exe to convert wav files via the command line or load the dll for use in other applications that may support it (i.e. AudioGrabber, EAC, etc.)

Hope that helps...

Thanks, I tried it and I had the same problem.  When I downloaded it to my desktop the icon iwas a win zip file (I suspect this is the problem.. now I did not notice if the other programs that gave me trouble were all win zip files) when the downloaded program has a little picture (computer with a disk) I have no trouble opening the file.  any ideas? thanks

It's a compressed file in zip format, you need to "extract" the data to a location on your hard drive.  Windows can work with ZIP archives, or you could download a free/open source alternative:  7-Zip
