Does anyone know how to convert a protected WMA file to an MP3 file? Is there software out there that will do this?

Thanks!

Just of out of my hat.
You can record it back onto hard disc while a player is playing it.
You just need to adjust the recording source accordingly. (I think you must set it to line-in.)
Please be sure you do not convert it to analogue and then back to digital, as this will deteriorate sound quality.
A problem reported recently is that you will also have to use an external recording utility, as the one coming with windows seems to have a time recording limit. (Not confirmed by me, please read a recent topic on the subject.)

Yes, sound recorder does have a 1 minute limit, but you can extend it by recording additional minutes, or by copy/paste, and then go back to the start and you can record however much you extended it to.

Better to use the bundle from your soundcard (if you got any bundle).

I thought loopback recording WAS a digital - analog - digital process, though some soundcards MAY have an internal digital loopback.

MusicMatch can accomplish all this above with no time limitations.
