When authouring a music CDR from Wave files, I get a click between tracks when playing back the final CDR. The Wave files themselves play cleanly in the computer. Any suggestions?

Which software are you using for authoring/burning?

I use tne NTI CD Maker 2000, and I have also used Roxio's Easy CD Creator, both with the same resulting tick between tracks. My burner is an LG HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4120B. I use Voyetra's Audio Surgeon for capture and editing wave files. I look forward to your insights.

The best wave extractor would be the program EAC, have you perhaps tried it?. It's a cardware registration only requires you to send him a nice post card, but the program is not disabled in any way to begin with. If you are interested you can get download it from the below link I have posted. Get the "latest" beta release, I've been using it for quite sometime without any problems! You can download it HERE

I'm thinking either a CD sector issue (and I believe EAC can pad/clip to sector), or you have a discontinuity if the tracks are not silent at the join.

A small crossfade, or clipping to a zero crossing, may resolve a non-silent join - if nothing better, even a very short fade out, and a short fade in (milliseconds).

Thankyou for your attention to my problem. Just as a follow up to your comments, I always fade my tracks in and out at the head and tail. Therefore the join is always at zero yet this "click" persists!
I am also following up on your software suggestion. Any further thoughts by you would be appriciated.

Yes, please give EAC a try, I think you will like it. I have done literally hundreds of thousands of MP3's with EAC, first ripping CD's to waves, and I have never had this problem. Please post back and let us know your resolve.

DAO is always preferable over TAO, for reasons of quality, provided your drive/s-w compination allows this.

Thank you all for your help.
The ultimate solution came from tech support at NTI. They were aware of situations like mine where this click between tracks can occur.
The problem is in the "Headers" of the file script. Some authoring programs have trouble reading them when created by other software programs ie. My Voyetra editor. The result is that the "headers" are considered sounds and hence the clicks.
The solution was simply an upgrade to the newest version of NTI's authoring software; NTI CD & DVD Maker 6, in it there is a simple wave editor that allows me to fade out the "clicks".
It's great to have people like yourselves who are interested in solving such problems, exposing yet again the "Plug-in Myth"!
