I had my dvd player and burner for a long time but when i tried to play a movie on the computer the windows media player told me that there is a problem with the decoder can someone plz tell me how to reinstall the decoder to play dvds

You need to install a software DVD Player such as Cybermedia Power DVD which has the nessesary codecs to play back DVD Movies.
