I just bought a new PC and it came with a SONY DVD RW DW-D26A, and went to buy
blank DVDs. I was told I would have to know if it used DVD-RW or DVD+RW.
Does anyone know which disc I should buy?

Welcome!

Your Sony is a LiteOn SOHW-1673S OEM. You might want to take a look in CDRinfo's review about this drive, and see its writing quality with several media.

LiteOn are mostly better with DVD+R media but don't expect too much.
