From the whole article I just seen nifty little improvements nothing major beside the drastic and much needed improvement of IE. (About time it caught up with Opera and Firefox)

Please correct me if I'm wrong

For me the biggest imrpovement is in the security. users alweays complain that linux has a better way to secure the administrator rights etc and now window has the same (sort of, we will wee in the next beta)

Also, the new way that programs are installed is much better. less conflicts, games in the program files directory etc restart is not alwayts needed, better and secure uninstall

After that, yes you could say that the other improvements are not that big (better handling in applications for example better canceling support, sychronization, faster explorer with the help of the navigation panel and the new breadcrumb bar, full text search with filters, xml and virtual folders.)
The final version of internet explorer 7 is going to be great, and don't forget the Speech Recognition, SafeDocs for auto backup's. there are so many improvements that in the end if you work with windows vista for a while you can't live with them

Notice that this is still the first beta and other programs like outlock express, windows media player are going to have major improvements
