I've already posted this thread in an area of the forum called DVD±R/RW Drives, however it's more appropriate here (apologies, i'm a noob to these forums) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi all, This is my first post and i'm a noob with a DVD-writer, please go easy on me :) I picked up an OEM NEC ND-2510A DVD-RW Drive from Ebuyer, being an OEM it's just the bare drive thats been delivered. I've installed it into an XP system and the drive has been recognised, however i'm looking to update the drivers and firmware before I start burning anything with it. The present firmware version is 2.15 and the driver automatically installed is a generic Microsoft driver going back to 2001 I've had a look around on the web for drivers, without much luck, I found some on driversguide.com but the rating of the submitted drivers was poor so I left well alone. I found a 2.17 firmware update, but I also found information saying that the official firmware update is for retail drives only, not OEM's. Whether this is true or just an excuse from NEC to encourage people to buy the more expensive retail version I dont know, nevertherless without knowing enough about these things I thought I should get some expert advice first. Additional info - The system i'm using has a Matsushita CW-8572 installed, having removed this from the system while installing the NEC ND-2510 (which I done to put the drives on seperate IDE buses) any driver information has now been lost. If anyone can help me locate Drivers and Firmware for both drives it would be appreciated, also any advice on the configuration of the drives would be helpful too. Thanks in advance Brduk
