I tried the Hp8100 hacked Firmware but now my writer seems dead, it only works as a regular CD-rom, can I undo the firmware update?

You can try and re-do the firmware from HP's site.

Thx but I solved the problem, what I did was use the Sony firmware updater and it worker fine.....
