I have a Lite-On 812 and have used the following:  VS0M - patched - crossflashing (for 451S, 851S, 812S, etc.) from the codeguys site... but, I also see a firmware labeled as follows: CG5J - patched - improved burn quality (for 451S, 851S, 812S, 832S, Sony 700A, etc.) So which one is newer? Which one should be used? VS0M or CG5J?
Thanks...

The "crossflasing" firmware is for making your OEM drive a LiteOn.

CG5J is a custom made firmware, having lot of tweaks, at least as tested from the codeguys, compared with the original firmware, i would suggest trying the VS0M and if the results are not satisfactory then you could always try the CG5J
