Hi, I legally own an Original Max Payne CD and as with my other originals would prefer to play off a backup CD. However I'm not sure what settings to use with CloneCD.

I have a Hewlett Packard 8290 CD-RW. I believe Max Payne has SafeDisc v2 protection. Please can someone let me know how effective this particular recorder is for 1:1 backups?

Also, please can someone suggest some CloneCD settings? For some reason I can't force it to use "no error correction" in the Fast Skip settings. It always reverts to Hardware Correction, which I think may be causing problems.

The backup CD installs the game, and the Launch Menu loads, but when I try to "Play" all I see is the Max Payne splash screen and it freezes indefinately.

I can get the backup working using a no-cd crack, but I don't want to use cracks, and it kinda defeats the point in having a 1:1 backup.

hi jiml and welcome! i'm sorry but your model doesn't support the correct efm encoding necessary to duplicate safedisc2 protections. you can use unsafedisk to 'crack' the copy protection in the executable or the no cd patch. i always use the no cd patches anyway just so i don't have to find the cd to play a game.
