Dolphinius, thanks for the comments. You are right, the Pioneer DVR-A06 as well as all the upcoming Pioneer models will not support the Mount Rainier defect management.
Pioneer developed a new version of for defect management for DVD-R/RW media. It is called "DRT-DM" (Dynamic Real-time Defect Management).
Once the drive spots a defected area on a DVD-RW disc it is marked and its address is stored to an extra IC located in the Pioneer DVR-A06. All the possible defected areas found on a disc are marked for future use of the DVD-RW.
The DRT-DM will be supported by Ahead and other software manufacturers very soon. You can find more information about the technology in the following page :
http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Articles/Specific.asp?ArticleHeadline=Pioneer+DVR%2DA06+DVD%B1RW+recorder&Series=0 As for the EFM/SafeDisc result table, it is our fault we did not present the results correctly. On the left column of the table you can see the drives that we tested the backup disc for playability. So, the SafeDisc v2.80 disc played on Premium, Pioneer DVR-A06 and LiteOn drives, but not on older CD-RW/-ROM drives, with the "Bypass EFM" feature enabled through Alcohol 120%.
Thank you all guys for the contribution.
