I really like it. (so far). It is noticibly faster than my 40/12/40, but the media I have does not come near 48X. I bought 100 taiyo yuden 40X cdr's that are supposed to be 48X certified. The fastest I think it got to was 45X and only for a split second. The first half of the writing seemed to be about 20-30X, and the second half was 35-45X. (powerrec on) Using TDK 40X and generic 32X disks wrote a bit slower using powerrec. Also, some of my audio cd's while ok in my cdrom drive, played very noisily in the plextor if not perfectly balanced. I had one taiyo yuden disk stop while recording due to recording errors at 48X and had to throw it out. It is the first disk of any kind that I have had to toss since getting any plextor drive. I am relatively new to cdr/cdrw, but it is the best/fastest drive of the 3 I have tried in the last couple of months. Cannot really try the 24X cdrw, since I cannot find any media that will support this speed yet........let me know if you know of any (at a reasonable price) (as well as if anyone knows any 48X cdr media that is more consistently 48X and at a good price)
