The Motherboard I Am Using is the A7V133 with the 686B southbridge.
I also has a soundblaster installed.

I installed My LiteOn 24102B on the Secondary On Board Promise Raid controller with the drive being the only drive on the channel.

I noticed while burning a RW cd (backup of my data) from nero that random files would fail the Verify check.. I tried 4 times.

Put the drive back to the STD ATA100 Onboard controller and all was fine.. Could it be the 686B bug with the SBLive or Just Promise doesn't like the burner???

Ideas Any 1?

Regards

Joel

I have a separate PCI Promise RAID controller. I read from somewhere (either readme or Promise website) that warned about attaching ATAPI CD drives to it. So, I 've never attempt it.

Always connect the CD-ROM/DVD-ROMs/burners to the main ide channel.....the other ide controller is for harddrives.....

OC-Freak is right! I have the Maxtor version of the promise card and the drive is designed to run your Harddrive, not your cd drives. With 4 oether IDE channels on the mother board why wouldn't you use the on board controllers?

I think Pjotr touched on this, but I just read more detail at another site.

NONE of the Promise controlers will tolerate ANYTHING but hard drives.

The ONBOARD Promise controlers are even more restrictive, requireing at least TWO hard drives (and set as RAID) to function at all.

Highpoint, ATI, and other brands seem to be much more tolerant.

No problems bottom line , for CD-RW, CD-ROM, and DVD ALWAYS use the "main" (non-RAID) IDE ports.

How about Promise's non-RAID controllers?

I shouldknow this - I have an ATA66 card of theirs.

Still, one of us better check their web site.

As I recall, the same thing applied. In fact, I could change my card into a RAID controler by a adding a couple of jumper wires and flashing the BIOS!

Good Luck

I have an A7V133 with a Plextor 241040 (and a 121032 before that) which is attached to the Promise Controller and I have never had one problem.
