Sorry if this is mentioned elsewhere I have done a few searches and can't find any info.

I have an LG GSA-4163B drive in my Computer and have recently bought a Panasonic DMR-ES20D Stand alone DVD Recorder with some DVD-RAM discs, I can use the discs ok in the Panasonic but when I try them in the LG it is not recognised, I have also tried a blank DVD-RAM I get the same result. This is the first time Ive tried to use DVD-RAM and not sure if I need any more drivers/software?

I am concerned that the LG Drive may be faulty, but it works fine in all other respects and have never had a problem with it.

I am running Windows XP Service pack 2

Did you install the software that was supplied with your LG Drive?  Also do you have the latest firmware for the drive?

Hi, I didnt install any of the software that came with the drive as it was just DVD authoring & burning software and I already had those installed on my pc and didnt need them. Im not sure what firmwear I have installed but have downloaded the a new one that i'll try to install when I get back home

I have installed firmware version A105 into my LG GSA-4163B, it originaly had A104 installed. After the installation I still have the same problem with DVD-RAM. I also installed InCD4 and now 'My Computer' crashed when I try to right click or double click on the CD drive with a DVD-RAM disc inserted. I have tried with both blank media and a disc that has been recorded on with the Panasonic DMR-ES20D, I get the same results with both.

You have to remove InCD

Ok, Will do. But InCD was the last thing I did and still DVD-RAMs are not recognised.

Is it possible that the drive could be faulty if all other aspects work fine i.e. CD read/write DVD+- and dual layer read/write?

It's possible, but I would remove InCD and then I would try some different DVDRAM media.

You have to install A RAM driver.
You can find it here.

The Discs have to be formatted if you want to write on them on the PC. This comes with the driver.
Once the driver is installed you can read the discs from the Panasonic recorder on your PC.

This is why I said above to install the CD that came with the drive..... there "are" drivers on it.
