Nvidia’s GeForce Will Lose Access to Games From Xbox Game Studios and Warner Bros.

Nvidia’s GeForce Will Lose Access to Games From Xbox Game Studios and Warner Bros.

Gaming Apr 21,2020 0

Nvidia’s GeForce Now cloud gaming service is losing access to more titles later this month, the company announced on Monday.

Games from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, XBOX Game Studios, Codemasters and Klei Entertainment will be removed from the service on Friday, April 24, Nvidia said.. We hope they’ll return in the future.

This means that Nvidia's service will no lokger offer popular titles like Halo: The Master Chief Collection or games in the Gears of War or Forza franchises. Warner Bros.’ game division has the rights to series like the Batman: Arkham games developed by Rocksteady and Mortal Kombat titles from NetherRealm. Codemasters is well known for developing racing titles with the Formula 1 brand and rally racing games under the Dirt series. And Klei is well known for making indie hits like Don’t Starve and Mark of the Ninja.

The news is another blow for GeForce Now, which does not involve publishers selling separate licenses of games for access in the cloud. Nvidia does not support games on GeForce Now without the express permission of the publisher that owns the intellectual property.

The GeForce Now was free in beta form, but since its public trial launch in early February, the company started charging $4.99 a month. Publishers, including Activision Blizzard and Bethesda Softworks, then began pulling their libraries. 2K Games also removed its titles early last month.

Nvidia says that the service still offers games from top publishers and developers like Ubisoft, Epic, Bungie and Bandai Namco are among that hundreds that have committed to streaming their games on GeForce NOW.

"Thirty of the top 40 most-played games on Steam already stream on GeForce NOW. And we’re working to bring over 1,500 more games to the service," the company says.

Ubisoft’s catalog of AAA franchises, available both on Uplay and other supported game stores, are already streaming with GeForce NOW. With their support, Nvidia announced that it is adding the complete Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry series, starting today. Nvidi apromised that more Ubisoft games will arrive in the coming weeks.

One of the most popular games on the service is Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. It appears alongside a variety of games from many of Ubisoft’s top franchises: Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, For Honor, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon, Tom Clancy’s The Division and Watch Dogs.

Nvidia also says that thee are many publishers committed to enabling their games for streaming on GeForce NOW. Those games include Destiny 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Hearts of Iron IV, Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, Rust, Warframe and Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem.
