HTC One M8 for Windows Unveiled

HTC will start making a version of its flagship HTC One phone with Microsoft's Windows software inside.

The HTC One (M8) for Windows will be available exlusively by Verizon Wireless. The device is the first to ship in the U.S. with the Windows Phone 8.1 Update and comes with all the latest features such as Cortana, Live Folders, Action Center, and more.

The HTC One (M8)'s body is crafted from a single block of aluminum and because of this – there are zero gaps in the body’s construction. The brushed metal frame wraps around the entire body of the phone giving it a zero edge finish and has diamond polished chamfers and micro drilled speaker perforations. It has a 5-inch Super LCD3 1080p HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and comes powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core 2.3GHz processor. It will come with 32GB of storage (available capacity varies) with expandable storage with up to 128GB with a microSD card. 15GB of storage online with OneDrive is available for free too.

The HTC One (M8) for Windows features the experiences as on the original HTC One (M8) including HTC BlinkFeed; HTC BoomSound; HTC One Duo Camera with UltraPixel Technology; a 5 megapixel front-facing camera; Video Highlights and HTC Dot View Case.

You can pick up the HTC One (M8) for Windows through Verizon Wireless in stores and online, with online sales beginning today and in-store tomorrow. Additionally, you can also get the HTC One (M8) for Windows from the Microsoft Store and later today they will have a special promotion on an HTC Dot View case and screen protector for the HTC One (M8) for Windows. Verizon Wireless is offering it for $100 with a two-year contract and $600 without one.

Earlier on Tuesday, HTC's chief executive Peter Chou also unveiled another new phone in Tokyo, aimed at the Japanese market.

The updated J Butterfly model, the HTL23, features a plastic body, but is otherwise similar to the Android One M8. It comes equipped with a "Duo" 13-megapixel camera that features a dual flash and 1080p full-HD video recording. A 5-megapixel front-facing camera allows users to take beautiful selfies with ease, according to HTC.

Other hardware specifications are similar to the flagship One M8.
