AMD To Outsource Chipsets Development To ASMedia: report

AMD is planning to outsource its PC chipset R&D to ASMedia Technology, a subsidiary of Asustek Computer, Digitimes.com reported today citing "sources from the upstream supply chain" in Taiwan.

AMD is expected to work with with ASMedia to integrate interfaces such as SATA Express onto its next-generation platform, but the partnership may advance further with an outsourcing of the whole chipset R&D, the report added.

AMD did not comment on the report.
