Samsung And Apple Fail to Reach Settlement

Apple and Samsung Electronics did not agree on a settlement if their latest patent dispute despite, foollowing a meeting between top Samsung executives and Apple CEO Tim Cook hosted by a mediator earlier this month.

In a court filing signed by both companies in Friday, the two sides detailed the lack of progress in their talks but added that they remain willing to work through a mediator. Otherwise, they will meet in court again in a trial in March.

Judge Lucy Lucy Koh of the U.S. District Court in San Jose has been trying to convn=ince the two sides to settle the 2-year-old case.

In November, a jury tacked on damages that a previous jury said Samsung owes Apple for copying iPhone and iPad features, bringing the total award to $930 million.

The latest trial will consider Apple's claims that Samsung's newest devices, such as its Galaxy S III, also copied Apple's technology.
