Yahoo Releases Weather And Mail Apps

Yahoo is trying to make popular services more accessible to smartphone and tablet users with the release of the Yahoo Mail Apps for iPad and Android tablets and the the Yahoo Weather App for iPhone, iPod and iPod touch.

The Yahoo Mail Apps for iPad and Android tablets offer a full-screen experience without any folders, buttons, tabs. The MAil app has been designed to take full advantage of the tablet making reading your email easier.

With the new Mail apps, you can quickly select your messages, automatically group by sender, and with a swipe - delete, star, or move them all.



The second app released today is the Yahoo! Weather App for iPhone, iPod and iPod touch. Yahoo has together images from its Flickr community to show you current local conditions, with all the details you want to know about the forecast. Inside you'll find snapshots of weather around the world. To get the whether details, you can tap the temperature for a quick view of the forecast or scroll down for precipitation, wind and pressure, a radar map, and more.

Users can also submit photos of their favorite places to Yahoos's Flickr Group to get their images included in the Yahoo Weather for iPhone.

Yahoo! Weather for iPhone, iPod, and iPod touch is launching internationally in 30 languages, available for free on the App Store.



The mobile push being orchestrated by CEO Marissa Mayer as the company is trying to attract even more mobile users in order to have a wider audience for displaying ads. Yahoo is being hurt as advertisers funnel more of their online budgets toward Google and online social networking leader Facebook.
