AT&T Debuts Windows 8 Tablets

AT&T will release a set of new tablets designed for Windows 8. Available for the 2012 holiday shopping season these new tablets are the ASUS VivoTab RT and the Samsung ATIV Smart PC.

ASUS VivoTab RT is irst quad-core Windows RT 4G LTE tablet. It features a 10.1" multi-touch Super IPS display with ASUS TruVivid technology and is equipped with 32 GB of storage and NVIDIA's next-generation quad-core Tegra 3 TE processor. This 4G LTE capable tablet comes with Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 RT Preview Edition.

Samsung ATIV Smart PC offers the blend of PC capability with the convenient tablet form factor. With a detachable keyboard-docking system users easily switch between a clamshell notebook PC and a tablet PC. The ATIV Smart PC allows users can work or stay entertained while on the go with the 11.6" HD PLS display, Intel Clover Trail 1.5 GHz dual core processor and 64GB internal storage memory. ATIV Smart PC comes installed with Windows 8, and preloaded with a trial version of Microsoft Office 2013 for productivity apps, including Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint.



With new AT&T Mobile Share plans, AT&T new and existing customers can share a single bucket of data across smartphones, tablets, and other compatible devices. AT&T Mobile Share allows customers to build a plan to fit their devices and usage.

Both Windows 8 tablets will be available in AT&T company-owned retail stores and online at www.wireless.att.com in time for the holidays. AT&T did not disclose pricing of the new tablets, although analysts have speculated that the Windows 8 machines will cost $700 to $900.

Acer today announced that its Windows 8-based Iconia W700 an 11.6-in. display will be priced from $799. The Iconia W700 is less than 1.27cm thick and weighs 1.04Kg. The 11.6-inch screen will display images at a high-resolution, 1920-by-1080-pixel resolution.

The tablet will be powered by Intel's Ivy Bridge Core processors and offers up to eight hours of battery life.

The tablet will boot in just six seconds and return from idle mode in just one-and-a-half seconds, Acer claimed. Other features include a 5-megapixel back camera and a high-definition front camera. Either 64GB or 128GB solid-state drive storage will be available with the tablet. A micro-HDMI can connect the tablet to a TV set. A protective case is included. The tablet can also connect wirelessly to a Bluetooth keyboard to make it a fully functional laptop.
