The next version of Apple's operating systems, iOS 12, will focus on reliability, performance and augmented realty, although Apple has removed some other features.

According to reports from Bloomberg an Axios, Apple has informed its employees that its will pushed into 2019 a number of features including a refresh of the home screen and in-car user interfaces, improvements to core apps like mail, a a merger of the third-party applications running on iPhones and Macs and updates to the picture-taking, photo editing and sharing experiences.

The reason, according to the reports, is that Apple is putting more focus on addressing performance and quality issues. The company will also probably delay a revamped photo management application that used new algorithms to better automatically sort pictures.

The company has been criticized of late, both for security issues and for a number of quality issues, as well as for how it handles battery issues on older devices.

However, new features including improvements in augmented reality, digital health and parental controls will be part of the new OS, which is typically released every fall.
