Samsung seems to be accelerating a quantum dot TV launch, according to sources from Korea.

The company applied for 'Samsung QDOT TV' trademark registration to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. This could mean that the company is accelerating the introduction of quantum dot, which is regarded as a next-generation display together with organic light-emitting diode (OED). It is not sure whether we will actually see a QDOT TV at the IFA 2014.

Quantum dot is a semiconductor nano particle of which the electrical and optical properties change when the substance reduces down to a several nano-meter level. Although quantum dot itself can function as a light emitting substance, quantum dot substance is applied to a film to drastically enhance color reproducibility of LCD.
