Message Text: Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are competing to pre-empt the UHD TV market by cutting off the prices of their next-generation UHD TVs.

Both companies are trying to dominate the North American UHD TV market.

According to reports, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics will sell 55-inch and 65-inch UHD TV at $2,999 (55-inch) and $4,499 (65-inch) respectively just i time for the Black Friday.

These prices are matching those offered by Sony for its UHD TVs. At launch, both Samsung's and LG's UHD TVs were $1,000 to $2,000 more expensive than Sony's models.

The the demand for the UHD TVs is forecast to grow considerably due to the big athletic events tha will take place next year. The Sochi Winter Olympics will be held in February and the Brazil World Cup will be held in June and July.

And towards these events, both LG and Samsung will use the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) stage in January to showcase UHD TVs for both the low-end and the premium market.

Samsung has developed 98 and 110-inch UHD TVs in addition to 55, 65 and 85-inch UHD TVs. Its 55 and 65-inch models feature a luxurious slim metal design.

LG has released the lower-priced basic UHD TV with fewer options in the wake of the premium model.

Both companies will use OLED panels for their upcoming UHD TVs, and they will try to emphasize their differentiated technologies.

According to a market research firm, the UHD TV market is expected to more than triple from $2.67 billion in 2013 to $8.671 billion in 2014. The industry forecasts that the UHD TV will grow more than anticipated next year.
