Message Text: Just a day before it was scheduled to go on sale, Nvidia has pushed back the launch date of its Shield gaming device until July.

Nvidia said that "some final quality-assurance testing has just turned up a mechanical issue," pushing the company to delay shipping until next month. Nvidia added that the issue related to a third-party mechanical component.

Shield is an Android-based portable gaming device powered by an Nvidia Tegra 4 chip that can run Android games on its built-in 5-inch screen. The device has also a pop-up retina display, and runs the same games as those on Android tablets and smartphones. The portable device also shows movies, plays music, stores e-books, and can be used to surf the Web.

Soon after unveiling the final production version at the recent E3 game expo along with a US$349 price tag, Nvidia said it was dropping the price to $299.
