Samsung today announced the GALAXY S4 LTE-A, accelerating smartphone expectations with fastest downloads, web browsing, multimedia streaming and applications loading.
The Samsung's GALAXY S4 LTE-A, combines features included in the GALAXY S4 with new advanced features and twice-as-fast network speeds. It is featuring a 2.3GHz quad core processor and a 2,600mAh battery as well as ImageON, which analyzes images that users view, then identifies and plays videos related to the image with just one click. A high resolution Digital Media Broadcasting service delivers live television programs or sporting events. In addition, the GALAXY S4 LTE-A is equipped with the same features of the GALAXY S4. ImageON and a high resolution DMB are only available for the Korean version.
The new smartphone will be available in S. Korea by SK Telecom.
The operator said its 150 mbps LTE-A the service is the first in the world and went live in Seoul, parts of 42 other cities, and 103 universities. It has plans to extend coverage to 84 cities.
The carrier used a technology called Carrier Aggregation, which can combine different frequencies on a mobile network, to create an effective 20MHz spectrum band by combining two smaller channels. The current standards allow for up to five 20MHz bands to be combined.
SK Telecom said it won't initially charge extra for its faster speeds.
LG Electronics Co., the world's third-largest smartphone maker, and its smaller local rival Pantech Co., are also set to soon release smartphones running on LTE-Advanced network.
