Message Text: LG has patented a method for utilizing a head-mounted display, which displays content coming from an external device such as a tablet, even when you are not looking on it.

The invention relates to a method of outputting a content using a head mounted display (HMD). When paired with a a digital device having at least one display unit configured to display content, the HMD will detect the 'location state' of the paired digital device and will output the content displayed on the digital device to the HMD. The location state comprises a first state in which a display unit of the digital device is located within a preset view angle region of the HMD and a second state in which the display unit of the digital device is not located within the view angle region.

This means that when you're staring at content on a device like a tablet, the HMD will be inactive. When you turn your head or the device away, the same content will automatically displayed to you through the HMD.

The specific patent was filed by LG in August 16, 2012, but it was assigned to the company in April 23 2013.
