Message Text: Samsung is reportedly considering purchasing memory chips from rival SK Hynix for future products including its new flagship Galaxy S smartphone, a company executive said on Thursday.

Reuters quoted J.K. Shin, head of Samsung's mobile business, saying that the move could help Samsung ensure no supply disruptions for key models of its Galaxy S smartphone.

Currently, Samsung uses its own mempry ships for its smartphones. Looking to outside chip suppliers could mean that Samsung is preparing to upgrade its flagship product lines with increased memory storage capacity.

The Galaxy S4 goes on sale later this month. Analysts expect the new flagship smartphone to outsell its predecessors, with monthly sales of about 10 million, and could leave behind Apple's iPhone.

SK Hynix has been a major DRAM supplier of Apple

Apple suppliers are concerned of weaker demand from the iPhone and iPad maker, after a disappointing revenue forecast released on Thursday by one of its suppliers.
