Electronic Arts unveiled gameplay footage of the upcooming "Battlefield 4" game during a Tuesday event in San Francisco.
The video began with four U.S. soldiers trapped underwater in a sinking vehicle before flashing back to their fire-fight with Russian militants in the wind-swept capital of Azerbaijan, Baku.
The graphics on display during the footage running on a PC were more photorealistic than previous games, hinting at what's to come on Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's rumored Xbox successor.
The game's single-player campaign focuses more on open environments, allowing players tactical freedom and giving them more ways to command squad mates.
The game will be available later this year for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
