Message Text: Google is expected to release a new Chromebook with a touch display possibly in the beginning of next year, according to a report from China.

The Chinese Commercial Times (CT) reported (translated) that Google's new device will feature a 12.85-inch touchscreen and will run on Google's Chrome OS.

Taiwan-based Compal Electronics is responsible for OEM production and Wintek supplying touch panels, the paper added citing Taiwan-based supply chain makers.

Compal will start shipments as soon as the end of 2012, the paper said.

Until now, the company has partnered with Samsung and Acer to launch low-cost Chromebooks, which do not feature touch support.
